Heliflieger remains on the ground because of Obama and G7

No helicopter flights during the G7 summit. Airspace closed up to and including June 8, 2015

Munich, June 8, 2015. During this year's G7 summit in Schloss Elmau near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, private planes are not allowed to fly in large parts of Upper Bavaria. This biggest restriction in Germany's history so far also affects the Heliflieger Germany GmbH at Jesenwang Airfield west of Munich. The Jesenwang airfield is 80 km as the crow flies from the conference location.

“Despite the excellent weather conditions and summer temperatures, we cannot go into the air with our guests on June 7th and 8th. From June 9, 2015, we will start our helicopters again as usual and are available for sightseeing flights over Munich and in the Alpine region, ”reports Dirk Schepanek, helicopter pilot and managing director of Heliflieger Germany GmbH.

Recently aroused Heliflieger Germany caused a stir in the run-up to the G7 summit when Barack Obama was suspected to be on a VIP flight at Jesenwang airfield. Many guests asked themselves whether it was really Obama who got into the helicopter and wanted to get an impression of Munich and the surrounding area on a helicopter tour before the official meeting. However, it turned out that the person in question was Luis Lay, a professional Obama doppelganger. The real Barack Obama has now arrived in Elmau, and the G7 negotiations are in full swing.

“We see the current airspace restriction in our flight region as exaggerated - but overall relatively relaxed. Nevertheless, I am pleased that we will be able to take off again from June 9th and offer our guests unique sightseeing flights, ”comments Dirk Schepanek.

About Luis Lay
Since the visit of the then presidential candidate Barack Obama in 2008, Luis Lay has been his first and most popular doppelganger in Germany and regularly represents the most powerful man in the world at various social events in Europe. Since 2008, the anticipation of an American-Cuban rapprochement, which in April 2015 achieved a new quality with the historic handshake of Obama and Castro, has been strikingly reflected in his person. The trained tenor and trained cultural manager has Cuban roots and is confusingly similar to the incumbent American president. As early as 2008, the headline of a major daily newspaper was 'Obama is a Dresdner'.
